The first stable enough version after the Godot rewrite is here! It’s not very stable, but good enough to play again. Plus, there’s music.

I never like writing these as I have to look back and see just how long ago I wrote the last update/release, and it’s always far longer than I’d like. If you hadn’t heard, the reason the update was quite so long this time around was because I decided to rewrite the game for Godot. I don’t regret it, but I can’t recommend it. I have now reached a state where I believe the game is playable, but there’s still a lot of work to go. Please let me know if you encounter something that’s broken (and not listed here). I will aim to be a little faster on updates and work on restoring full functionality as soon as I can while also enhancing as I go.

Stuff that should work

Yes, this will look a lot like basic tower defence stuff, but I’ve had to make sure it all works again with Godot, so please let me know if it doesn’t.

  • You should be able to open the shop
  • You should be able to place turrets
  • Turrets should hit their targets
  • You can move & zoom the camera on Desktop
  • Most UI
  • Spawning mobs
  • Death (and lives lost)
  • Upgrading turrets (with modules)
  • Restarting the level on game over

Stuff that won’t be included

  • Balance. I don’t plan on holding up new features to do a massive balance overhaul each update, however I would like to pop a few changes in if I get a chance. So please do send your balance thoughts, what works, what doesn’t.
  • Lancer. I didn’t get a chance to implement rotation so it can only shoot up. Otherwise it should work, so I’ve excluded it.
  • Selling. The button won’t do anything
  • Mobile. I haven’t done any work for this as I wanted the core built on one platform first. Sadly it’s just not something I can prioritise just yet.
  • Wave & Countdown text (wave count appears on game over)
  • UI Enhancements.
  • Any other scene than the Upgrade level
  • Leaderboards (likely coming next)
  • Discord Integration

New Stuff

  • Bullet trails
  • Hover animation for tiles
    • Because of how this works, this does move the turret (and therefore it’s range)
  • MUSIC! It’s just one track atm, and without music controls (sorry).

Known Bugs

I’ll put anything here that I expected to work that doesn’t.
